When and Why Does the LWV of Mobile Take Action?

The League of Women Voters of Mobile is a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose purpose is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government and to act on selected governmental issues.

We are a grassroots organization. Our position on an issue is established only after League members have conducted an in-depth study of the issue followed by member deliberation and consensus taking. The League advocate for or opposes legislation or public policies that effect our established positions.

In addition to its own positions, the LWV of Mobile supports and takes action based on the positions of the LWV of Alabama, the positions of the LWV of the United States, and the fundamental Principles of the League of Women Voters on which every League stands.
